About this blog

My name is David and my family have been practising “Beekeeping” for a long time. I have learned from them everything I know and I am still learning . This blog is dedicated to “Ecological Apiculture” and I also want you to know more about apiculture and the problems that many beekeepers face daily. I hope that this blog is a bridge that helps you to understand the life of the bees in the apiary, in their natural environment and the challenges that we face along with the bees.
Why Ecological beekeeping?
I believe that society is passing through a phase towards a more ecological world and I don’t feel as if I’m outside this change. I believe in a simpler style of apiculture respecting a more natural and rational life of the bees.
This path has not been easy. David Quesada said in his blog “It is a great challenge for those who embark on this route in semiprofessional or commercial apiculture”. It is this journey against the current, alternative, fighting against the lack of understanding and scepticism of other apiculturalist, the administration…
There is a great deal of reasoning in his words but fortunately this is changing little by little especially in the administration (administrative authorities) from whom I have received a lot of help especially from “ICCA” and the “Casa de La Miel”.
To finish off I want to thank my uncle Damián who shows (teaches) me this profession with patience and understanding, to María Jesús González for her help with the translation of this text into English that helps us to get closer to all the foreigners who live with us on these islands. Also to José Jiménez for this invaluable help in the creation of this blog. To Alberto Reina for letting us use some of his incredible photos for this blog amongst them the one on the left which is on the front page (https://www.flickr.com/photos/albreco)
I will leave out the names of the others but they are always in my mind, not forgotten and feel indebted to help.

Thank you very much.
